Blackfoot - 1976 Flyin' High
This power house band of roughnecks left us some of the finest Southern rock under the sun and while 'Flyin High' flew under almost everyone's radar in 1976; it's one of their better efforts.

Blackfoot - 1979 Strikes
This LP cover is one of the most striking (excuse the pun) to ever hit my record collection. God damn! And then there was that black cougar/tomcat thing the following year on the cover of 'Tomcattin'. A great way to make an impression, and that's exactly the sort of thing that Jacksonville's Blackfoot got right during their heyday.

Blackfoot - 1980 Tomcattin'
One of a handful of southern rock bands that flew the flag for the Confederate during the 70's and 80's were Jacksonville based Blackfoot.

Blackfoot - 1981 Marauder
Another look at southern rockers Blackfoot, this time their 1981 head-turner 'Marauder'. The third in a trilogy of album covers where they quickly become the David Attenborough of the rock world.

Blackfoot - 1982 Highway Song - Live
This is a bit of a rowdy live set from Jacksonville's loudest, and given they were well on their way, 1982 was a good year for them to release a live album.

Blackfoot - 1983 Siogo
'Siogo' shifted course into broad hard rock range, with slight hints of their previous sound. In the US sales were paltry. Hardcore fans weren't buying the new image and direction.

Blackfoot - 1984 Vertical Smiles
Despite moving into a full-on AOR style on 'Vertical Smiles', critics, long time fans and the general public weren't buying.. Especially sad considering the album provides the kind of crystal clear AOR that was succeeding all over the place.

Blackfoot - 2016 Southern Native
Despite this new album from the legendary Florida rockers, this one leaves me stone cold. Sorry to introduce the 2016 version of Blackfoot this way, but quite simply, this is NOT Blackfoot.

Medlocke, Rick (And Blackfoot) - 1987 Rick Medlocke And Blackfoot
If any hardcore Blackfoot fans had aspirations of a return to the old style of 'Strikes' or 'Marauder', then this must have appalled them, considering members of Mothers Finest, Atlanta's finest (sic) funk band have hooked up with Medlocke this time around. But for fans of AOR and Southern rock it's a perfect combination.

The Essential Series - 2017 Southern Rock & Boogie (Volume 1) by Gdazegod
Having just completed an article whereby we wrote about a selection of West Coast classics, we turn our hand to Boogie. Yes, Southern Rock boogie.

The Essential Series - 2017 US Hard Rock (Volume 1) by Dtabachn
The early days of American Hard Rock produced some classic LP's. Here's ten of the best as cherry-picked by Dave Tabachnik. And it's only Volume 1, with more to come..
