Max Webster 'The Party' Box Set
gdazegod
As mentioned on our Facebook page, Record Store Day Canada are having an 'enter and win' competition for the vinyl version of the MW boxset. Check it out (below).

Love the Rock Candy remasters on the first three albums they sound phenomenal...I'll wait and see if they do A Million...and Universal J...if not maybe I'll think about the box set...sounds like a cool piece though.

Had a bit of a windfall and decided to treat myself to the vinyl box. I have to say the box is stunning and the artwork looks great on the larger format. Solid sturdy box with lift off lid, all the albums complete with inner sleeves inc lyrics as per the originals. As the first album never had an inner sleeve originally it's nice they've included lyrics for it in the 12x12 booklet.
The real surprise is the Bootleg LP which comes in a plain white sleeve but with the title Max Webster Bootleg written by hand and signed by Kim Mitchell. This is also hand numbered (mine is 49/250). Now I don't know if this 250 boxes of the vinyl set or 250 signed copies but if you like vinyl and want one act now.

Don't hold your breath as Rock Candy is specialised in unfinished business.
The first bunch was released 6 (!) years ago. It's extremely hard to believe that these are liscensing problems. Most likely they have lost interest in doing the others...

I concur...here's an example. I know for a fact that John Fannon from New England got all his publishing back for that first album from Universal some 2 years back, and if the New England debut (with the Infinity live promo as a bonus) isn't a shoo in for Rock Candy then I don't know what is, and also the band have had the full rights to Walking Wild for years, and they could 'officially' release those 4th album demos as a bonus...where there's a will, there's a way, as they say.

I'd like to see that happen the first New England is a real classic...I have the Jap version but it's probably from the 90's and CD's have come a long way...especially if John has the masters it could be really good.

I too have the Jap CD and the Infinity Live Promo on vinyl, but would love to see a newer digital version using the latest remastetring technologies. Would love to see it happen, but.. helpless

I’m still waiting for those Axe releases that were supposedly in the pipeline eons ago. Maybe they’ll be ready to go for playing at my funeral.

Don't know what's up with those Axe albums...I guess it didn't help that Deadline did that best of Axe 2CD a few years back with a lot of the songs from those albums...Rock Candy would be wise to remaster & reissue all of the early Axe stuff...at least the first 3 as the Wounded Bird version of Offering could be improved on.

Max Webster arrived today ..... was lucky, no import duty....happy days. No chance to play them yet (just got back from a pub crawl).
