Hollywood Bears - Bear Yourself (1987)

Now here's a band I would like to know more about. Seldom discussed in AOR circles, this little 4-track beauty should receive more attention IMO and it's definitely one worthy of a GD review.
Every song on this one is a winner, 80's AOR at it's very finest with a production to match and a fantastic singer in Tori Luca. Why these guys wasn't picked up by a major label is beyond me... and what's more intresting, there's virtually no info on these guys on the net.

The only blokes I was able to follow up was bass player Jerome Lee, who has travelled and lived all over the world playing bass. Reading between the lines, Jerome played in a number of short-lived bands when he moved to L.A in 1985. Toward the end of the decade, he left to go and live in Holland, where he played in the Nikki Buzz Band (Sun, Vendetta etc). He's now back in Las Vegas. His website is: http://www.jerome....

Steve Geller, the drummer, has also played in many bands. He too lives in Las Vegas. He has a website.. http://www.steveg....

From my understanding, the Hollywood Bears were a showcase band; hence the 4 track EP and nothing beyond that. Statue Records also had the bands Ringleader, Chosin Few on their label, plus Howard Gripp and Stinger further on into the 90's.

Thanks for the info, George.
I'm thinking of maybe contacting one of these guys to see if there were any more recorded material (demos etc), although my guess would be that there wasn't.

This EP is outstanding melodic hard rock with AOR elements. Really would have been great if they had fleshed this out to a full length LP. A proper GDM review is in order headphone
