Background
With comparisons to Starcastle bandied about on the Internet, I naturally became curious about Riser, although it was Gabor Kleinbloesem at 'Strutter' that gave the band my address and in turn, a promo copy a couple years ago. To be honest, over the years I have received a lot of promo's from various artists and most of it not worthy of a second play, but Riser's disc is another story....

The Songs
From the photos in the CD booklet, it looks like these guys were prime time late 70's. White bell bottoms, big mustaches and typical posing that could be interchanged with the back of any Stonebolt or Player album, but it's the music that matters and the sound of Riser will send listeners into pomp heaven reminding me of Styx, Roadmaster, Trillion and yes, Starcastle. This is especially so on 'Tin Shield', but fans of Starcastle will detect this influence throughout the ten tracks, making this a must have for those who enjoyed 'Citadel'.

In Summary
My only complaint about 'Resurrection' is there is no information as to when this was really recorded or at least I can't find it anywhere in the booklet? This is a major bugaboo for me as it would be nice to know, although I am certain this was NOT recorded in 2000. Whatever. A great CD that's still easy to find.
