Background
Some of you may remember from 2017, we wrote an article about this young Michigan based band called Greta Van Fleet. It was a little bit out of the ordinary, because the band members we're still at school essentially, and they were in the process of putting an EP out, prior to a full album. So we reviewed that EP, and now a few months later here is their new effort. Released toward the end of 2017, this isn't a full album as such, it's an eight track EP includes four tracks already reviewed on their 'Black Smoke Rising' EP which came out earlier in 2017. Refer the tag below. So we won't focus on those tracks ('Safari Song', 'Flower Power', 'Highway Tune', 'Black Smoke Rising'), we'll look at the new ones instead.

The Songs
These lads are fairly old school, so you can hear references to old favourites like Aerosmith, Cinderella, AC/DC and the like, which means they are ideal for a website like ours. I won't spend too long dwelling on this EP, as these Michigan boys have a number of smaller releases on the way. 'Edge Of Darkness' is the first of these, an AC/DC sound but it's the voice of Josh Kiszka which surely is Tom Keifer revisited? 'A Change Is Gonna Come' takes us way back to the early 70's, so a comparison to the dinosaurs of that era are in order. 'Talk On The Street' is a more upbeat rocker, still with edgy 70's dynamics. It's like this lot are living in another dimension of time! 'Meet On The Ledge' hints at Led Zeppelin rockarama, and does so with aplomb.

In Summary
If you've never heard of GVF, check out YouTube, or their Bandcamp page. Into 2018, the GVF boys have a full year of touring ahead, and will be all over the USA and over to Europe and UK as well. Check them out if you get the chance.
