Background
This is Jessica Wolff's second album, and has been out in Japan since 2015. Toward the end of 2017, German label Metalapolis reissued it, hence this has seen renewed publicity. If you've read our previous article on her 2013 debut 'Renegade', this Finnish singer, come actress and stunt artist is a very talented individual. I followed Jessica on Facebook for a year or more, and I remember one intriguing aspect about her; is that she owns a pet python, and she loves playing with swords. Yikes! The lady spends a bit of time hovering between Finland and Los Angeles, and with 'Grounded', she's anything but!

The Songs
The energy displayed here is like a summertime spritzer, from the upbeat opener 'Reckless', through to the effervescent 'Playing For Keeps', 'Roots' and 'Magic Castle'. There are songs where our Jess gets introspective, such as 'Under Your Spell' and 'Saving Someone Else'. If some of you are feeling nostalgic, then 'Chase Me Down' is a return to that nubreed sound which emanated across the airwaves circa 1998-2003. The chorus is straight out of that era. Just to ensure that we haven't drifted out of the current timeframe, the title track 'Grounded' keeps things on the clock, as it were.

In Summary
It's all melodic pop rock with a hint of AOR and glam, and in one case - nubreed. It's very appealing as was her debut so this album is not too dissimilar to that one. Check it out if you're into this sort of thing.
