She only released this one album. And in the same era of one-off albums from the 80's, she had a name which started and ended with an A, was super gorgeous to boot, and joins GDM's two other favourite ladies Aina and Alexa in this exclusive group. Her real name is Annika Wiklund, and she has a voice somewhere between Bonnie Tyler, Doro Pesch, Erika and Tone Norum. If you can imagine that amalgam, good on ya! First released locally in Finland on the Lighthouse label, this was initially hard to find, but punters had more luck when it was reissued in 2004 by the MTM Music label out of Germany. It's reputation was probably a little zealous by some within the AOR community. Some loved it, others less so.

The Songs
For me, I sit on the fence. It's not quite the classic that some people make it out to be. When compared to Witness for instance, this one pulls up short of the driveway. None of the songs overstay their welcome. All are around the three minute mark. Highlights for me include the honey-roughened 'So Divine' which has a strong Tone Norum presence to it, the sensual 'Badly' which stalks across the room like a scantily clad model on an MTV video doing the tiger walk. Then there's the Scandi pop-rock of 'Black Waves' and the resolute melodic rock of 'She's A Belladonna'.

In Summary
The 2004 reissue included five bonus tracks: 'I'm Ready', 'Fine Polca', 'Be My Angel', 'Give Me Love' and 'Breathing', which appeared on another project she sang on, called The Pink Flamingos, from the year 2000. Copies of that MTM reissue are easily available on Ebay; not so the original Lighthouse release, which came out on both CD and LP. In later years, Annica did work with Finnish bands Havana Black, 69 Eyes, guitarist Jan Stenfors (who did the guitar work on this album and has connections to Hanoi Rocks) and the late T.T Oksala, who was one of Finland's more prolific producers. These days, Annica can be seen on Facebook, and obviously you can contact her over there. There's probably no chance of a follow up album, nearly thirty years after the fact, but still, it was an excellent effort by MTM Music to reissue this regardless.

The Lighthouse issue used to sell for outrageous prices on Ebay in the early 2000's. More than $400 for the first cd pressing. Same happened with Tindrum's 'Drums Of War' cd around that time.
