Yep in Argent, especially as Rod Argent and Jim we’re cousins.

There is a three-part article coming up for E.L.O (Eldorado, A New World Record and Out Of The Blue). Look out for it soon.

Background
Dane Spencer and Kevin Bullock were both members of Utah based 80's rockers Sojourn. GDM's very own Eric Abrahamsen has worked with Dane and Song Haus Music in the past, and this was one of their first projects going back to 1998. I really enjoyed Sojourn's 1985 album 'Looking For More', though the follow-up 1989's 'Different Points Of View' was quite hard to track down, though it did feature on a 2 on 1 back around 1998 thanks to Point Music.

The Songs
For this album 'Games Of The Heart', the sound is a mix of big sounding acoustic pieces and guitar driven rock. An unusual hybrid, quite lush and pastoral in parts, with splashes of electrics laced throughout, and in some cases - instrumental pieces like 'Vandy's Voyage' and 'For Claire'. The only pure hard rocking cuts are 'Standing In The Shadow Of Steve' and the organ dominated 'Two Strikes'. The remainder is strong on acoustic guitar played in a melodic rock style.

In Summary
'Games Of The Heart' probably won't suit everyone here at GDM, but it's good to get an insight into what they were doing around this timeframe. The former Sojourn boys would return with 2001's 'World Of Spirits', recorded for Song Haus Music.
