I was a bit cranky last week, waiting for various things to happen with the website transition. God it's good to be back. Didn't Gary Glitter sing a song like that? dogrun

OK, all the YouTube videos are working again. Just use the YT link, and then encase in tags [ youtube] at the start, [/ youtube] at the end. Cool. Thumbs Up

I've always had a soft spot for the voice of Parramore McCarty. From those early days with L.A metallers Warrior, and then with Steve Stevens Atomic Playboys, McCarty has a unique style which is well suited to the metal genre. I'm not sure what he's been doing in recent times, but his return with new band Radiaton Romeos (cool name btw) is well overdue. It's in the style of his former band Atomic Playboys and since the band name is taken from the lyrics of the song 'Atomic Playboys', that's to be expected. This is quite a melodic affair, probably not as overblown as that 'Atomic Playboys' record, but there are some good moments.

The Songs
The opening title track definitely tries to recreate that Atomic Playboys vibe, and it succeeds. However, I'm thinking that the album is a bit lopsided style wise. I was hoping to hear more out-n-out metal tunes, but instead we get material which sits better in the melodic hard rock arena. Sure, 'Mystic Mountain', 'On The Tightrope' and 'Monstertraxx' veer toward the heavier side, but when you hear tracks like 'Ocean Drive' and the super-melodic ballad 'Like An Arrow', plus the Tattoo Rodeo styled 'Ghost Town', do you get this impression of imbalance.

In Summary
Despite my indifference, this is an above average record, though I'm feeling I won't be taking it out for a spin that often. Great to see Mr McCarty back though. That much is good.
