Another Swedish band who we first looked back in 2002. Cryonic Temple released a handful of records in the early Noughties before slipping off the radar. They've been around for two decades, and this is their fifth album. They hail from the same hometown as recent reviewees Stormburst (Dalarna, in Central Sweden), and as can be expected, this is fast-paced power metal in the style of other Scandi outfits playing in this style, such as Highland Glory, Bloodbound and Divinefire. As a theme, 'Into The Glorious Battle' is set in the future, but really, can there be any glory in any battle?

The Songs
Cryonic Temple obviously think so, as they cascade from one metal epic to the next. With songtitles like 'All The Kingsmen', 'Heroes Of The Day' and 'Mighty Eagle', you kinda know where we're headed right? This could be the metallic soundtrack to 'Game Of Thrones', but without the dwarf and the dragons. I'm kinda partial to this kind of metallic payload, and there are many good moments. Chainsaw guitar riffing, symphonic keys, and a big bash-a-thon going on in the rhythm section.

In Summary
Sure, this genre has seen many bands deliver similar packages, from the striking artwork to the sci-fi nature of the songwriting, right through to the musical bombast. I've probably seen it a thousand times, but I never get tired of it. Thank goodness for bands like Cryonic Temple. Actually, thank goodness for Sweden. Hey hey!
