Background
In March 1973, British guitarist Robin Trower released his debut solo LP 'Twice Removed From Yesterday'. It set in motion what would follow a successful solo career that continues into the modern day. Trower was with Procol Harum on their first five LP's between 1967 and 1971, but left to form a short-lived outfit called Jude before forming the Robin Trower Group. Signed to Chrysalis Records, Trower, bassist Jim Dewar and Reg Isidore, along with producer Matthew Fisher (also ex Procol Harum) produced an album which showcased Trower's obvious Jimi Hendrix influence, a heavy reliance on the flanger guitar-pedal, and a series of tunes that were steeped in a lazy blues jam style. There's also a cover of B.B King's 'Rock Me Baby', which has been covered by just about every artist who knows a thing or two about the blues. Trower's most popular album was 'Bridge Of Sighs' released the following year, which went to #7 in the 1974 album charts.
