WEBLINKS: Bandcamp Site

Well, if you read the album title, you don't have to be a signwriting expert to know what we're dealing with here. Avi Rosenfeld is an Israeli guitarist/musician who just happens to dig some of the older bands from our bygone era. Avi has been self recording music since 2011, and this believe it or not, is his 30th release! The 'Very Heepy, Very Purple' concept is now into it's sixth edition. The hint being taken here is the influence of the organ/keyboard leanings of both bands, thanks to Ken Hensley and the late Jon Lord. And it is this Hammond infiltration that takes center-stage on 'Very Heepy, Very Purple'.

Listening to this, I am kinda surprised by the ideas on offer here. Opener 'Battles Rain' kicks off much like Alcatrazz's 'Jet To Jet'. Load of organ work here, but none of the Malmsteen noodling, which is probably a good thing. There's some sci-fi stuff going on, as per 'Crash Into The Burning Sun', and some medieval thrashing too, a la 'Castles Burning' and 'Dragon Slayer'. Sometimes we drift over into more metallic styles like the Iron Maiden influenced 'Help Me My Brother', or the exotic 'The Desert And The Wind', which could be Dio live in concert on the fringes of the Sahara! Each of the songs features a different line-up, save for one or two individuals who appear throughout, such as drummer Thomas Lofholm. There's a ton of music to listen to, which is available online. Avi already has another two albums ready to run: 2017's 'Guinevere' and 'Many Years Ago'. Check out this link: click here..
