This year I am going to take a different approach to reviewing albums. I'm going to leave behind many of the traditional sources that I've worked with over the years for something different. It's time for a change, and to spread the focus elsewhere. I will look at the smaller labels doing the rounds, one of those is Pride And Joy Records. They have a German trio on their roster, they are called Lioncage and according to their biography are a mix between melodic rock and west coast. So that will surely interest some of the readers here. Lioncage have been together now for three years and this is their second bout in the studio, their debut 'Done At Last' released by Escape Music back in 2015.

The Songs
Listening to this, I am reminded of Swedes Coastland Ride and Heartbreak Radio, while the singer Thorsten Bertermann touches some of the tones which Canadian Rob Moratti creates, but without the helium delivery. It's all very well put together, and quite smooth all round. 'Mysterious Angel' kicks it off, containing all the elements that every modern day act in this genre should have. 'Lights' is at the lighter end of the scale, showcasing their tendency to drift toward the West Coast side of things, which is fine by me. However, that's not the case for the entire album, as the tracks 'The Inner Circle' and 'Save The Day' really kick some ass as a pair of hard rockers. For something different, respected guitarist Tim Pierce adds some six string magic to 'Secrets', a bit of a coup to get him involved, but that they did!

In Summary
Overall, a decent sounding album, with good production and ideas. This could interest a few punters when it's released at the end of next month. Look out for it.

Excuse the overly American voice over at the start.
