Yep in Argent, especially as Rod Argent and Jim we’re cousins.

Didn't Rodford also play in Argent and Charlie too?

Jim Rodford, bass player, The Kinks, Phoenix (I think?), but I remember him with The Zombies, saw live a while back. RIP

Stuttgart-based Sinner is the brainchild of Matt Sinner (of Primal Fear fame). The band's first recording dates back to 1982. Starting as a euro-metal-sounding outfit, 1984's 'Danger Zone' and 1985's 'Touch Of Sin' are very enjoyable albums, the latter progressing towards a more 80s American metal sound with the inclusion of Accept's axeman Herman Frank. For the recording of 1986's 'Comin' Out Fighting', Angel Schleifer (Bonfire) and Mathias Dieth (U.D.O) filled the guitar slots.

The Songs
With British producer Chris Tsangarides (Judas Priest, Thin Lizzy) in charge, Sinner updated their sound to a more melodic rock/AOR approach. While their early recordings have a Saxon/Accept feel, early Bon Jovi, Quiet Riot and Joe Lynn Turner era Rainbow are the closest references here. The keyboard driven AOR of 'Hypnotized' starts the proceedings with a riff reminiscent (prospectively) of Poison's 'Fallen Angel'. Think Brother Firetribe as a more contemporary comparison. Mid tempo AOR with a pomp chorus is featured in 'Faster Than Light'. Guitar solos are typical mid-eighties, flashy and surrounded by keyboard layers. The chunky hard rock of the title track leads us to 'Age Of Rock', a rocker anthem a la Accept meets Twisted Sister with a massive gang chorus. 'Rebel Yell' is a nice cover with Mat Sinner singing as a grittier Billy Idol. Rainbow-like keyboards and JLT type vocals are displayed for 'Lost In A Minute'. 'Don't Tell Me (That The Love Is Gone)' is a Queen/Journey heartfelt ballad. The brilliant metal anthem 'Germany Rocks', a 'Bang Your Head' ('Metal Health') direct child, is as entertaining as it gets with its catchy riff and huge chorus. 'Playing With Fire' is euro metal, the riff reminds me of Quiet Riot's 'Run For Cover' while the verses recall the more melodic Helloween. 'Madhouse' is the last song, another good chorus here.

In Summary
Sinner were very aware of the rock/metal scene of the middle 80's and delivered what I consider the most appealing of their outputs for melodic rock/hard AOR fans, blending their euro metal roots with more melodies, keyboards and some pomp rock elements. The following album, 1987's 'Dangerous Charm' went deeper in the same direction. The band is still active and their releases (especially from 1984 to 1987) are more than worth checking out.

There were some good bands coming out of Germany during this timeframe. Craaft, Bonfire, SADO and heaps more. Might have to do some more investigation me thinks.
