WEBLINKS: Sunstrike FB Page

I remember reviewing Sunstrike's 2014 album 'Rock Your World' and being completely blown away. That album made my Best of 2014 list, so that says something. And here we are two years later, and 'Ready To Strike' has completely flown under everyone's radar, so it would seem though I'm sure that isn't the case. From Borlange in central Sweden, these guys deliver near perfect AOR/melodic rock, and for mine, are one of the better exponents of ou favourite sub-genre.

The Songs
The band rock into gear with 'Head Over Heels', and it's like they've picked up where they left off on 'Rock Your World'. The next 'A Piece Of The Action' takes us on a slightly different path. Sort of funky, like It's Alive in a modern context. Sunstrike really kick into fast and furious mode with 'Firework', I love it when a band like this turn up the heat. Choice! just to confound the punters, 'Hurricane' features strong keyboards and plenty of 'na na na's' on the gang-choruses. Then we get the firepower of 'Angel In My Room', which combines Eclipse with 1987 era Whitesnake maybe with a touch of Blue Murder. 'Someone To Love' sees Christian Eriksson' vocal move into Rob Moratti territory, it really is a goodie, so too 'Turned To Stone' which is the album's anthem moment. Not forgetting, Sunstrike deliver two ballads. 'I Stand By You' which is an acoustic affair which amps up to electric power ballad part the way through, and the closing 'Sail Away', which is led by piano and again, transitions to a power ballad. It appears this band can do anything!

In Summary
There are many bands from Scandinavia that I enjoy, but I'm thinking Sunstrike might trump them all, such is their musical prowess. I really like the album cover too. It looks like a Dyson's Sphere covering that globe looking object. If you don't know what a Dyson's Sphere is, read up on it through Wikipedia or the Halo gaming series. Only the two albums so far from these super Swedes, and based on my two reviews so far, surely they must go straight to the top of the class? I think so.
