Yep in Argent, especially as Rod Argent and Jim we’re cousins.

21-01-2018 07:43
Didn't Rodford also play in Argent and Charlie too?

Jim Rodford, bass player, The Kinks, Phoenix (I think?), but I remember him with The Zombies, saw live a while back. RIP

There is a three-part article coming up for E.L.O (Eldorado, A New World Record and Out Of The Blue). Look out for it soon.

There are a couple of Wolverhampton Wanderers supporters here. I know that much. And to add cheer to Wolverhampton's fortunes are glam metal exponents Shyyne. I don't know a lot about these blokes, but I did stumble upon their debut album 'Worlds Gone Crazy!' and I came away suitably impressed. Tigertailz and Faster Pussycat are probably the two best comparisons I can make, but for an indie band who are (more or less) giving their album away for next to nothing you'd be an idiot to turn down this opportunity.

The Songs
I did watch a clip of these guys on YouTube, and they certainly looked workmanlike, but the guitar work of Mark Wilkins gives Shyyne more beef than a few slabs of t-bone pulled out of the butchers fridge! It's best described as glam metal, but the band know how to deliver at the heavier end. The production probably lacks a little bit, but it's not throwaway either. I wasn't too crazy about the vocals from Toni Gale, but musically the band are reasonable, and the six-string skills from Wilkins ensures Shyyne sit at the top end of the scale.

In Summary
Shyyne are a fun listen, and you can find this on the Net without setting your pocket alight, considering Christmas is on our doorstep and pennies are being spent on other necessities. Worth a listen at least.

I saw on Shyyne's website they shared the stage with ICONIC EYE two weeks back. That would've been a good night out!

Shyyne - 2015 You Want It

These guys are from my neck of the woods. Emo, the drummer from Iconic Eye mentioned Shyyne to me a little while back and suggested I check them out, just never got round to it....worth further investigation methinks.

Good one George. I'll give them a go. I can hear ''The Quireboys'' references as well. As for Iconic Eye, I barely missed them during the Rockingham weekend (they actually played the Thursday before the 3-day event) and I have them on my list, both to check their album as well as to see them live very soon.
