Yep in Argent, especially as Rod Argent and Jim we’re cousins.

21-01-2018 07:43
Didn't Rodford also play in Argent and Charlie too?

Jim Rodford, bass player, The Kinks, Phoenix (I think?), but I remember him with The Zombies, saw live a while back. RIP

I quite like pulling out albums for review which are slightly different to the norm. I think I've proved that with a couple of my recent articles providing some caustic feedback. I could care less, the issue is about exposing people to all sorts of music, so long as it's melodic. As with the case of Stockholm based rockers Thundermother, a band made up completely of hard rocking ladies, with a lead singer from Ireland and a guitarist from Italy. Pointed to me by Headfirst Entertainment (a.k.a Dave Tedder), 'Road Fever' is the bands second CD, and they are now making some inroads beyond Scandinavia.

The Songs
The guitar-work from Nassil and Carteri riff away with happy abandon. It's quite caustic and rough, and will provide crusty old rockers with some turgid memories of Girlschool and Rock Goddess. Sigh.. You can chuck in references such as AC/DC (everyone who has reviewed the album certainly has!). You can throw in fellow Aussie rockers Airbourne and you're about dead-on. It's all action packed, even Supergirl and Wonder Woman should be prepared to step out of the way of this lot when the guitars are pointed at you. There's no long-winded epics here, just short and snappy rockers, with the track time clocking in at a half hour. Enough not to hurt the cerebral matter with an overextended playing time. The Thunder-gals blitz through a couple of retro rockers. 'It's Just A Tease', 'FFWF (Fight Fire With Fire)' get the show rollicking along, and you don't get much respite with 'Deal With The Devil', the fiery 'Give Me Some Lights' and the manic 'Roadkill'. 'Enemy' and 'Vagabond' slow things down a notch, but overall it's fun time rock n roll, that touches metal and boogie.

In Summary
I just love seeing a bunch of good looking gals getting up there and tearing up the town! With 'Road Fever', Thundermother have something going for them, and after a recent jaunt across Europe, the girls have picked up a whole bunch of new fans. 99.9% probably pre-pubescent males! Discover the 'Mother'!

In 2017, it's unfortunate that this band have lost four out of it's five members, with only founding member Filippa Nassil the last one standing.

All is not lost, Filippa has bought in new members and Thundermother is now back on the road again.
