Yep in Argent, especially as Rod Argent and Jim we’re cousins.

Didn't Rodford also play in Argent and Charlie too?

Jim Rodford, bass player, The Kinks, Phoenix (I think?), but I remember him with The Zombies, saw live a while back. RIP

There is a three-part article coming up for E.L.O (Eldorado, A New World Record and Out Of The Blue). Look out for it soon.

Scarborough, Christian - 1991 Bump In The Night

ARTIST: Scarborough, Christian
ALBUM: Bump In The Night
LABEL: So Bad Records
SERIAL: CD 11991
YEAR: 1991

LINEUP: Christian Scarborough - lead vocals, keyboards, bass * Keven O'Brien - guitars * James 'Bubba' Dixon - guitars * Bill Appleberry - keyboards, vocals * Dave Batchelor - drums, vocals

TRACK LISTING: 01 Night Songs * 02 Rock Tonight * 03 Fire * 04 Back On My Feet Again * 05 Satisfy Me * 06 Brothers * 07 Good Morning Jennifer * 08 Call Me Anytime * 09 Are You Ready * 10 Welcome To The Business * 11 Smooth

Probably a touch too late to make it into the consciousness of the hard rock public, were Virginia based melodic rockers Christian Scarborough. I assume the band is led by a bloke with the same name, but unsure whether this is a solo project for said individual, or a proper band which features his name. Image wise, they certainly look like a bunch of happy-go-lucky hair-metal types, and with a sound from the MTV era caught somewhere Honeymoon Suite and Zebra (though not as good), you'll be wondering whether there is something worth investigating here? Err, yes and no.

The Songs
The production to me sounds very unbalanced. The vocal shout-outs cut through the mix like industrial strength cleaner, overpowering in places. I wasn't entirely convinced of the lead-vocal work either, while the musical arrangements were nothing to shout home about. Only a few songs captured my attention, but not enough to write about in any great detail, apart from the best of the bunch: 'Welcome To The Business'. Perhaps the most interesting song here is a cover of the Billy Satellite classic 'Satisfy Me', though sounding nothing like the original.

In Summary
In pursuing some research on this album, I noticed an original CD was being offered for $350 on Ebay. To me, that's probably $349 over the true asking price for this album. Just because it's rare doesn't mean that it's any good. Buyers be warned..
