Legacy - 2003 Stand And Conquer

LEGACY - STAND AND CONQUER (2003, INDEPENDENT)
Randy Allen - vocals
Darin Moore - guitars
Patrick Palmer - bass, vocals
Andy Hall - drums

Background
When I got this album in the mail I was a bit confused. At first I thought it was the Legacy that are signed to Chavis Records. Nope, this is an independent release by a Dayton, Ohio HM quartet, and is even their second release. Unfortunately, you can hear that these guys are independent from the production, which lacks the cut and thrust required for this genre.

The Songs
That is a pity because these guys make up a pretty good band otherwise. Legacy play traditional American melodic heavy metal in the style of Armored Saint and Metal Church. Vocalist Randy Allen is quite versatile with a John Bush range. Guitarist Darin Moore is quite nifty, but the underdone production detracts somewhat from their good performance. In particular the drums lack punch and the guitars are a little low in the mix. However, beneath the surface there are some cool songs, such as the rampaging title track and the very impressive power ballad 'Without You'.

In Summary
'Stand And Conquer' is a prime example of a good band who could very well have benefited from a top-notch production crew. In this day and age it shouldn't happen, because elsewhere we've heard demo's with a superior sound. These guys may be a great live band but they need to sort things out in the studio if they want to gain the attention that they probably deserve. We are sure that in time, Legacy will address that issue.

Track Listing:
01 Free To Fly
02 You Can't Hide
03 Stand And Conquer
04 Sky Will Burn
05 Without You
06 Sold Your Soul
07 Say Your Last Goodbye
08 Killing Yourself To Live
09 Survival Of The Fittest
10 Battlecry/The Reckoning

Went to Joplin in 2011 to volunteer. As an insurance adjuster what I saw in Joplin was like nothing I had ever seen before. This looks so much like what I saw in Joplin. Prayers to all affected.

We were missed by an F1 twister by just 4 city blocks a couple years back. Brutal destruction and still not fully recovered. Can't imagine living through yesterdays F4-5 in Moore. Terrible.

With some luck they'll get bundled out in the qualifying stages next season.

Nothing to do with music but Arsenal securing a place in Champions League nest season by grabbing 4th spot is worth a mention. And a celebration.

Yeah sorry, the Alpha Order page was fixed at 5000 entries, so thecurrent list only went up to W. I've extended to 10000, so we should be ok for awhile..
