There is something so inherently good about this Swedish band, I can't quite put my hand on it. GD have been compared to Def Leppard since they first appeared, but after three albums I think we can safely say the band have gone to new places that not even the once mighty Lepps have been to. To reinforce the Grand Design sight and sound extravaganza, the band have bought in three new faces since their last 2011 recording 'Idolizer'. Guitarist Janne Stark, bassist Mats Vassfjord and drummer Magnus Ulfstedt have made a big difference, 'Thrill Of The Night' is a huge sounding affair, the guitar pairing of Vestman and Stark complimenting each other, while the back end kicks serious ass! Play it loud, and let the sonics wash over you.

The Songs
Yes, it's still hard to ignore the Lepp like attributes throughout this majestic CD, but when it's done this well, perhaps it's high time to toss out my copy of 'Hysteria' once and for all! From my perspective, there's not a weak track here. The whole thing just rolls ahead like a steam-train, bowling over anything in its path. From the opener 'U Got Me Good' to the closing 'Thrill Of The Nite', there's much to like throughout the near 47 minute playing time. I particularly enjoyed 'Rawk N Roll Heart Attack', the incredible ballad 'When The Greatest Love Of All Kicks In', or the power anthem of 'Rip Iddup'. It doesn't stop there though. '10 Outta 10' and 'Get Up N Love Someone' are equally as strong as anything that's gone before, plus there's 'You're The Only One' which is the definite AOR moment on the CD.

In Summary
I've only recently picked this album up, and honestly I can't stop playing the bloody thing. I'm going to be listening to this one for a few weeks yet. As much as I enjoyed 'Time Elevation' and 'Idolizer', the songs on 'Thrill Of The Night' lift it up a notch higher in my opinion. The production is super-stacked, and 2014 just keeps getting better and better as we count down toward the end of the year. Get it if you know what's good for you!

All 3 GD releases are great, but this one wins the crown! Awesome!
