Background
I'll admit to knowing very little about Danish progressive metallers Anubis Gate. I got a little encouragement from Nightmare Records owner Lance King to take a listen to this, and I'm very impressed and glad that I did. They've been around for at least a decade, and operate at the classic prog spectrum mostly. Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull etc, that's what I've read elsewhere anyway, but I think these guys are in their own element, drawing off energy when they need to.

The Songs
Three tracks only. 'Destined To Remember' is an AG original, and boy check out the tight as a ducks arse harmony vocals! At just on 5 minutes, it is a hell of a way to make an impression on a newbie (yes, that's me!). This track (although in a slightly different version) appeared on the 2013 album 'Horizons'. Musically, this is one tightly structured band, and has already ensured that I will checking out their back-catalgue.

Second track 'Sheep' is a cover of Pink Floyd's yesteryear effort, taken from their 'Animals' album. At nearly 10 minutes, she's a lengthy one, but I'm guessing AG don't really have time restrictions when it comes to this form of music. If you love Floydian stuff, then this is for you.

The third and final track is a cover of Mr Mister's hit from 1985 'Broken Wings'. It's very spacious sounding, melodic as can be expected, with a modern arrangement that would give Steve George a bit of a thrill. Nice one.

In Summary
This is a free EP going from Nightmare Records, so check it out as it comes highly recommended from yours truly. Here's the direct link: click here.. Expect to read more about Anubis Gate in the coming weeks.
