Background
Superfecta are a new British band coming to my attention. Promoted by Skyfire Promotions, these Londoners have been in action since 2011. Gigging hard over the last 18 months, the quartet have secured their first release; an EP, called cleverly enough: 'The Superfecta EP'. Their promo PDF suggest the bands are influenced by 90's grunge influences. This is what their fans say. I think differently, swaying more to post grunge comparisons instead. Plus, the 4 tracker is pretty melodic, which is something I can't attribute to those 90's outfits.

The Songs
Just the four tracks: 'She's A Star' is propelled along by a strong undercurrent of riffs and rhythms. It has an urgent sound which suits the band. 'Paradox' continues the hard attack, while 'Inside' is a mostly gorgeous acoustic ballad which morphs into something big and spacious at chorus time. Quite airy in places which puts Superfecta in a different place than what was first intended. The highlight of the EP is the rampant Motorhead like rocker 'Pendulum'. It really is a fantastic tight and kick ass three minute blitz.

In Summary
Quite a varied EP, lots to like, and even more decisions by the band in which direction to take. I definitely like 'Pendulum' the most, but all tracks appeal in their own way. The band are getting coverage from some of the UK melodic rock press, which is great. Seems melody is an easy thing to find among the hardened rock journos. A band to look out for. Remember the name.. Superfecta.
