I haven't heard about French band Shannon for about a decade or so. Back in 2003 they released their debut album which was reviewed here at the time by Luigi. They haven't been totally inactive since, with an EP and second album 'Angels In Disguise' both released in 2007. And here in 2013, this new album sort of popped out of nowhere a few months ago. Still standing on a plinth of melodic hard rock bordering on heavy metal, these guys stand side by side with the likes of Victory and Pretty Maids if only for one major drawback..

The Songs
There have been some pretty awful singers of late crossing my path. Singer Oliver Del Valle isn't quite as bad as all that. He's very powerful yes, but his tone and control gave my ears a thorough aural drilling! Probably not as bad as the singers who I heard with Osukaru and Farraday, but still, it made many of these tracks a 'hard listen'. I love the musical ideas expressed here, no qualms about that. But the icing on the cake with Del Valle's voice soured the experience somewhat. Still, there's power on display with tracks such as the stomping 'Forever Now', 'Halfway To Heaven', or the organ-heavy 'Don't Get Me Wrong' which sounds like Gotthard on steroids. It's a pity I couldn't sit through an entire session listening to this.

In Summary
Also, Harry Hess, Tony Mills, Paul Sabu, and members from Praying Mantis & Sideburn participate on the album though you'd be hard pressed to know. Another album that goes to the back of the class..
