Yep, you can tell this lot have done 'Introduction To Warriorhood 101', judging by the cover, image, and more importantly - sound. If you thought that bands like Hammerfall, Dragonforce, Gaia Epcius and Freedom Call had it all sewn up for things 'warrior-oriented', think again. Down from the Norwegian North comes the new power metal pretender Highland Glory. Not exactly invoking thoughts of Scottish warrior princes or Sassenachs (as usually associated with the term 'highland'), instead these boys rip into it Viking style, slaying amps and stages on their way to err... 'glory'.

The Songs
Norwegian bands tend to have that little bit of 'something' that stands them out from the rest in my opinion. I won't go on about the merits of that other Norwegian sensation Pagans Mind, but you can hear reminders of their guitar sound imbued within Glory's own chaotic riffing. Added to that are the similarities toward German prog metallers Chinchilla, particularly with their heavy keyboard sound. Grefstad is no Bruce Dickinson, but he gets his point across vocally, in true Norske tradition. Many of the tracks all feature sweeping keyboard intros, the dual pairing of 'The Land Of Forgotten Dreams' being prime examples, before galloping riffs thunder across the soundscape.

In Summary
A good band, though a little derivative and repetitive at times. As a listener, I was really wanting the band to offer more variety with the material, as I got the feeling of 'having heard it all before' when progressing through the album. However, not the worst album you'll ever hear.
