It's a well known fact that I love melodic rock bands coming out of Finland. Just take a swig through some of our articles for evidence. An outfit that has missed my radar until now is White Flame. These Flying Finns have been in operation since 2002 and have released two prior albums: 'Yesterday's News' (2007) and 'Tour Bus Diaries' (2009) on the small North & South label. White Flame will soon release album #3 called 'Cougar'. It will be produced by one of the more popular producers of the current-day in Chris Laney. As a prelude to that, White Flame release an EP with a couple of tracks sourced from it, plus some previous recorded but now remixed songs. This is similar to what ZZ Top did recently with their 'Texicali' EP preceding 'La Futura'. White Flame's music lives in the 80's with a modern basis shining through. It's sort of hair and glam metal mixed with melodic rock. It's not quite AOR, but could compare ok with the likes of Reckless Love, though their image is more glam than AOR.

The Songs
The lead-off track 'I Know Where You Live' will be featured on 'Cougar'. It's quite a polished sound and rocks out mostly, so it will be interesting if the new album will be similar. Roxette followers will be interested in the cover of 'The Look', an admirable effort which rocks slightly harder than the original. It too is on the new CD. Next up is the pairing of 'Frontrow Girl' and 'Certainly Something' both of which previously appeared on 'Tour Bus Diaries'. The latter takes on a surprising Tyketto like appearance. These have been remixed for this EP, so too 'Kill The Radio' which was heard before on 'Yesterday's News'.

In Summary
A brief 5 tracker EP which sets the scene for the forthcoming album 'Cougar'. An album I will look forward to in the weeks/months ahead.
