Background
I think it would be safe to say that Californian outfit Player are one of the more popular bands to be featured here at GLORY-DAZE. Their career and history as written among the reviews listed below means that I don't have to rehash their discography. Suffice to say that since 2010, Messrs Beckett and Moss have been quite active in stimulating the public with Player now seemingly back in the public eye. The duo restarted working on new songs and even toured together in 2010. Player has a new lineup with Rob Math (guitars), Johnny English (keyboards) and Craig Pilo (drums) added to the aforementioned duo. The band will also have a new album out later on this year, but in the meantime, Frontiers Records have put out a promotional EP of three songs to tide us over.

The Songs
Leading off with the title track, 'My Addiction' is pure Californian summery pop rock, with a hint of Venice and Mark Spiro like jangliness in the back-end. 'Too Many Reasons' is a mostly acoustic based affair that lifts with a searching chorus. It also includes a booming drum sound and electric guitar intersections. I hope the new album is populated with material in this vein. Quite why Player thought the need for a redux version of their chestnut 'Baby Come Back' was required. It's a singalong version with flamenco like guitar rhythms and a gentle wash of percussion as a backdrop. Still, it's nice hearing it again without actually going ga-ga over it.

In Summary
Peter and Ronn are in Italy this week, and will appear on several major radio and TV shows promoting this EP and the forthcoming album. I'm guessing with Ronn's 'Bold And The Beautiful' daytime soap opera background, he won't be short of an audience. I'll bet a ton of good looking Italian ladies will be on hand.. like perfect accessories!! Let's look forward to the new CD later in the year then shall we?

Nope, there is something wrong with this link, George.

It might work if you are an ITunes member. That was the link in the News item provided to me by Elio from Frontiers. I'm guessing also it will be a 'pay to download' item.
