Background
Swedish outfit Bad Habit run hot and cold for me. Many of their past albums are superb, but their credentials were severely hampered by 2009's 'Above And Beyond' album - an album which yours truly wrote off with disdain, with sugary and flowery references more akin to a boy-band! No such repeats this time around, with 'Atmosphere' a welcome return to form, with some tough sounding guitars and overall rockin' approach not heard since their debut and their 'Revolution' album! Not sure what has changed in the BH camp, but whatever they've done, it's worked. In 2010, Treat delivered one of that years best albums in 'Coup De Grace'. BH have followed in their footsteps, with 'Atmosphere' cheekily being released as 'Coup De Grace Vol 2'! All fun aside, this is a seriously good album.

The Songs
Is there a weakness here? Not to me there isn't. Every song works well, and I could be playing this thing for weeks to come. It's pretty difficult to know where to start with the songs on this CD, as excellence comes at you from all directions, but if I had to cherry pick from a rich selection of pickings, then the ballad 'Fantasy' would be one of those - an absolute killer. So too the cutting 'Words Are Not Enough', but it's full, lush but not losing anything in the power. Check out the glorious 'Angel Of Mine' (underneath) to understand the new found direction of these Swedish veterans. 'I Wanna Be The One' contains a singalong quality, rich and wholesome throughout, while the opener 'In The Heat Of The Night' though with some generic aspects still does enough to convince me that BH are back with a vengeance.

In Summary
I'm not going to beat around the bush, this is damn good, and for regular readers here, you shouldn't need any convincing. All I can say to the BH boys, thanks for proving me wrong. 'Atmosphere' is a winner. Do yourself a favour, buy the CD, as the quality of the recording sounds amazing.
