Yep in Argent, especially as Rod Argent and Jim we’re cousins.

Nobodys Fool - 2003 Temptation

NOBODYS FOOL - TEMPTATION (2003, SELF RELEASED)
Milosz - vocals
BK - guitars
Willy - bass, keyboards
Steve - drums

Background
2003 sees the return of hard-working Sydney-siders Nobodys Fool. They've just released their latest 8 track Enhanced CD offering called 'Temptation'. Like Demon Drive, they've added an MPG video of one of their songs played live. Good stuff, and slowly but surely it seems to becoming a popular thing to do nowadays! For those familiar with this website, Nobodys Fool are a regular attendee here, this being the fourth article done on the band in recent times. Though they all come from vastly different backgrounds (ie: drummer Steve Mercer was previously with UK AOR hopefuls Peroux), they still retain many of the hall-marks associated with Aussie heavy rock: driving rhythms, guitars with attitude, and a vocal swagger influenced by one too many cans of Fosters I'd say - tongue in cheek!

The Songs
'Temptation' features a number of tunes previously heard on their 4 track EP from last year. They add an additional 4, plus the video of 'Inside Out'. Starting out with an interesting prelude of guitars and effects, NF lead in with the rabble-rousing 'Cats Got My Tongue'. Searing guitar licks (no pun intended) with a hard driving backbeat, this track has definitely got some claws! Milosz even has a go at vocalizing some meows!!! Next up is the title track 'Temptation', an 80's throwback for sure, the riffs straight out of that L.A 80's metal-school. Think of bands like Hurricane, LA Guns and you're in the zone. 'Inside Out' veers into sleaze styled hard rock, the naff lyrics reading like a throwaway script from a b-grade Hollywood movie! 'Tie Me Up' despite the title, is quite unrestrained, the solo from BK is spectacular. The ballad 'Forever' unfortunately is not a memorable tune, and though 'Too Many Dollars' is standard fare hard rock for the most part, it is saved by some stellar lead guitar yet again from BK. 'Bye Bye' is another rocker with a simple structure, especially the chorus, though those keyboard parps/stabs can get slightly annoying at times! Thankfully, the band is best represented by the uptemp 'Hold On', again as in a previous track, the band appear unrestrained musically. To round out the album, the video of 'Inside Out' played live is an excellent bonus. Tell me Milosz doesn't look like Adrian Vandenberg??

In Summary
Despite the lyrics and song titles containing one too many sexual innuendos, musically the band are tight, the guitarwork from BK especially is a standout. The band have recorded this effort themselves, and you get an idea early on in the piece as to what they're on about. With a good production and mix, this band could go on to bigger things. In the meantime guys, keep rockin' hard and ditch the ballads.
