Background
New Swedish band GRAND DESIGN is the first band to be featured at resurrected GLORY-DAZE's 'Weekly Spotlight'. Inspired by some of our old site features/sections, particularly our old section called 'In The Spotlight', we've resurrected it in an effort to highlight upcoming new bands that have been discovered on (mainly, but not exclusively) MySpace.

Monday 27th July, brings to the attention, Swedish band GRAND DESIGN. From Västerås, on the western fringe of Stockholm, this quartet are based around singer and studio engineer/producer Pelle Saether. Pelle, has worked with other notable bands covered here at GDAZE including Steel Attack, Axenstar, Gaia Epcius, plus his two bands Zello and Zeelion - all from his recording location Studio Underground. Grand Design is less about traditional heavy metal and more about commercial melodic rock, with references hooking in Def Leppard, TNT and Europe. Drummer Richard Holmgren is also known in Swedish drumming circles, and is currently a member of Century Media recording artists Wolf.

Only a recent addition to Myspace, Pelle has links to all his other music associations, and according to a blog that he left on his site, it seems that some labels are already taking an interest in Grand Design's material, which is even more Def Leppard than the recent Retrospect signing Wildstreet! Check out the two songs that are up there already 'Air It Out' and 'Love Sensation'. So we assume it is only a matter of time before we hear an announcement as to who the lucky label is. May the best man win!

Grand Design signed to AOR Heaven, and released 'Time Elevation'. Review to follow very shortly.
