Thanks to a recent delivery courtesy of Swedmetal Records, we can present a couple of interesting bands on their roster which are a perfect fit for this site. And I gotta say.. the Swedes do it again. 2007 bought us the excellent C.C Rock, and in 2009 and in keeping with the same style and flavour, we are delivered Pretty Wild. These guys are pretty good!! There are ample amounts of L.A hair metal from the late 80's/early 90's era, with a nod to the likes of Ratt and Enuff Znuff. Last year, the band were featured on the 'Glam Nation Vol 1' compilation CD, plus their initial material was released Stateside on Demon Doll Records. However since then, the band have been picked up for European distribution through Swedmetal. So what do we know about these boys? Well, the band are from Malmo Sweden, and were formed in 2006 by guitarist Calle Faldt (Krizzy Field). Their image is somewhat glam, think Crashdiet and bands of that ilk. Talking of them, the album was produced by Crashdiet's Martin Sweet. So you know there is a connection. Interestingly, Ivan Hoglund handles the vocals here, plus he is a member of new Gothenberg based AORsters Eye.. recently mentioned over at the GD newsdesk.

The Songs
There are six originals (as per the Demon Doll release), plus two additional reworked tracks added to this CD for a point of difference. Put your C.C Rock hat on for a moment, and 'All The Way' sounds as if it has been written by them. Perfect start, a bright and breezy opening. 'Time' slam dunks in the best L.A hair metal tradition, great chugging guitars and an attitude born of the street. This one should have Kelv Hellrazer chasing ambulances down the street! 'Let The Good Times Roll' is not The Cars version, but a self composed effort. There are two renditions on the CD. The alternate version is an acoustic ballad and sounds wonderful. The pitch/tuning of the ballad version is higher, and the arrangement is well produced, swimming in acoustic guitars and synths. Things move in a Ratt direction on 'Shockin' Teen', imagine 'Out Of The Cellar' played in a slight glam style and this is what you get. 'Dangerous' features some Enuff Znuff riffs, the whole song coming off with a party anthem feel. The live version is even kick ass! Another standout is the melodious 'Take It Off', complete with a foot stomping rampant backbeat, infectious choruses and high flying guitar licks.

In Summary
A truly enjoyable little romp through the Pretty Wild universe will take you just under 30 minutes to experience. You can hear most of these for yourself on their MySpace page. In the meantime, I will keep an eye on their progress with much interest.
