Background
From the heart of central Oregon comes my vote for CD of the year. That's right and fans of The Beatles, 10cc and Electric Light Orchestra as well as The Traveling Wilburys and L.E.O. will want 'Changed By A Song' in their collections post haste! Smith and Hayes are studio professionals producing a number of local artists as well as commercial work in the Pacific Northwest and on this CD their talents are pooled together creating a work of pure musical magic.

The Songs
Where to begin? How do I not lavish praise on a release that is so obviously influenced by music that I hold dear to my heart? OK, I can't hold back! The 'Revolver' sound hits me right between the eyes on the title track. Is that 10cc's Eric Stewart on 'You Be The World' and the whimsical 'Kaleidoscope'? Oh my goodness, no its Smith And Hayes sounding like a lost session from the legendary Strawberry Studios. 'Before You Know It' and the gorgeous 'Waiting' sounds so much like late period Beatles it's scary, in a good way of course and just enough to send shivers on the back of your neck. Need more? Check out 'Before You Know It' which is the closest to John Lennon I have heard since his son Julian Lennon's superb 'Photographic Smile' disc a few years back.

In Summary
So there you have it, a stellar disc worthy of every serious pop collection. The only negative being the minimal artwork housed in a slim case and that it's a CD-R but what the hey, it's available on download from CDBaby too! Either option will not deter anyone from falling in love with the music of Smith And Hayes. Buy!

How in the world did you find these guys!? I definitely hear the Beatles and ELO. Heck a couple of the samples I listened too could pass for ELO/Beatles outtakes. Great Stuff! Maybe some Byrds in there tool
