This Zion album was released in early December 2006. I read some initial reports/reviews on this latest offering from one of AOR's finest vocalists: Freddy Curci (formerly with Sheriff and Alias). The feedback was not good. Actually, the reviews were scathing, to put it mildly. Surely not? From a revered singer who could do no wrong. Well, Sheriff and Alias comparisons are thrown out the window once you hear Zion. But is this a case of unforgiving eighties AOR fans wanting Freddy to sound like he did twenty plus years ago, or are the songs plainly awful? We're a cruel lot aren't we?

The Songs
Things start out promisingly enough with the dangerously titled (an album reviewer knows all about this phrase) 'All It Takes Is A Minute', though the vocals on the chorus sounded slightly out of tune and in places Freddy wasn't 'dead-on'.. if you know what I mean. What happened to the mix on 'How Much Longer Is Forever', it sounds positively atrocious! Even worse is 'One Man Alone' (the lyrics say 'I'm a man without a future..'. OMG what on earth is happening here? Should I continue? The song-titles read like a testament of wrath to poor Freddy's 2006 reappearance. 'Dangerous', 'I'm Running Home' (after this I'm not surprised), 'Everybodys Watching' (actually everybodys listening), and 'No Surprise' all rack up a big bad karma of the worst sort for Zion.

In Summary
The whole thing is so uneven, even a bumpy dreamers road would be smoother than this. I'm not sure who took executive control of this Zion release, but if quality control were part of the equation, then the QA Analyst should be fired immediately. What a shame to end the 2006 year with an appallingly bad album.. Such a shame that it happened to a nice guy and an incredible singer who we all know can do much better than this.. Prove us right Freddy..
