Background
By 1984, the Canadian outfit Chilliwack was down to one core member.. Bill Henderson. An original member of the band since the late 60's, Henderson released 'Look In Look Out' but really it should've been rebadged as a solo album, as he was literally the last man standing... Previous members Brian McLeod and Ab Bryant departed for the female fronted melodic rock band Headpins back in 1982, and were making steady progress with that outfit, releasing two successful albums in 1982 and 1983, plus tours with Kiss, Quiet Riot, Whitesnake and Billy Squier. Unlike Henderson who was left with a band name but no band. To his credit he did put together a studio outfit featuring some big names (Mo Foster and Simon Phillips in particular), and the album would become the last official release for Chilliwack.

The Songs
If any of you have heard albums by Fast Forward, Garnett Ford and the like, then Henderson moves this version of Chilliwack into similar territory. Certainly the brash guitar lines provided by Brian MacLeod are no longer evident. 'Look In Look Out' has a 'sort-of hi-tech feel, and if you can do a brain-dump and transport yourself back to 1984 then the resulting sound will come as no surprise to you. The production is pretty good on this album too. Kudos to Bill! A couple of goodies on offer. The acoustic wash of 'Are You Really Gonna Walk Out' is a shimmering slice of excellence - ambient and lush. The drama of 'Who's Winnin' is catchy, while 'Dream Of You' tries to recapture past AOR moments from their prior two studio albums.

In Summary
'Look In Look Out' was re-released on CD in 1995 by the defunct Long Island Records. Interestingly enough, the Chilliwack tribute sites say this re-release was unauthorised. Woah! Henderson continued on/off with Chilliwack right up until 1988, when the last rites were read, he then moved on to a jazz oriented three-piece called UHF, and was also involved in production duties, and was a member of the Canadian Musicians Guild, a past president in fact. The band did put in a reunion effort during 2005, along with many other long forgotten Canadian rockers from the past, but the light has probably long flickered out on what was a once promising career.
