Background
For those looking to expand their aural senses, check out this project called Lionels Dad. Based around the musical talent that is Mark Towner Williams, son of composer John, and brother of Joseph Williams (ex lead singer with Toto), and of course we shouldn't forget.. father of Lionel.. hee hee. Mark is better remembered for his time with melodic rock/prog cross-over band World Trade, who released a pair of great albums. The music that Mark has created has a modern feel, but has ample West Coast traits. Not unlike Toto, Third Matinee, or the brilliant Christian artist Michael Gleason. His voice gives us reminders of brother Joseph mixing in Clif Magness.

The Songs
Most of these songs are thoughtful, and warm, with loads of harmonies. Just sample a few of these and you'll appreciate the comparison. 'Still Alive', 'All Used Up' and the poignant 'That Girls Heart' are a few examples. Also, check out the smooth appeal of 'I've Waited For This Day' or the laid back 'Maybe You'd Care'. Then there are those tracks which bristle with energy, like the essential listening of 'If I Seem To Wonder', similar to 'Isolation' era Toto. Talking of that band, Mark gets to round out a rendition of 'A Thousand Years' (from 'The Seventh One', co-written by Mark, Joseph and David Paich).

In Summary
The album is definitely a grower, and catches up with you along the way. Mark has now moved out to Utah, but is still active musically, playing occasionally with Air Supply (alongside World Trade team mate Guy Allison). He also heads his own label Andromeda, which has seen the release of a few other projects since this one was made in 1995.
