Freewheeler - 2002 Demo

FREEWHEELER - 3 TRACK DEMO (2002, INDIE)
Seb - vocals
Pete - guitars
Sophie - bass
Russ - drums

Background
Freewheeler are providing us with an aural onslaught from good ol' Blighty.. London in fact. Obviously with this lot, the eighties sleaze scenario is still high on the agenda. The formation of the band come together as the members had played the covers circuit, and had come to know each other over time. They have been described as 'sleaze-influenced rock revelry'. Happy go lucky at best, with a foot in that eighties UK scene a la Dogs D'Amour, and no doubt influenced by every half decent pub band playing in London. It was a surprise to see this demo come through the post (thanks Seb!), so things must really be happening in the Freewheeler camp.. perhaps a pub tour 'down under' during the Southern Hemisphere summer maybe? Freewheeler have participated in and won a Battle Of The Bands comp in the UK, and have been featured in the noted melodic rock rag Powerplay. Unfortunately, the band have recently lost their guitarist Oktem, but he has been replaced by the able bodied (and six-string fingered) Pete. With more gigs on the go, this is a band who look set to go that one step further. Their style, though categorized as sleaze, still has enough elements of raunch and roll to be adaptive to the fussiness of the new millenium audience (i.e todays teenage listeners.. god help us!).

In Summary
In any case, the three tracks on offer showcase Freewheelers intentions. Admittedly the band aren't breaking new ground.. they know that, so de we. But what they are conveying is a sense of fun, and true rabble rousing 'rawk and rawl', which no doubt by the end of the night after one of their gigs and a handful of lagers.. you'd be thinking they could be the next Guns n Roses! All joking aside, the band must be doing something right if they can manage to interest the likes of Iron Maiden sound engineer Doug Hall to help out, plus noted producer Kit Woolven to assist on their demo. Look forward to you headlining Wembley in a few years perhaps guys?
