I was a bit cranky last week, waiting for various things to happen with the website transition. God it's good to be back. Didn't Gary Glitter sing a song like that? dogrun

OK, all the YouTube videos are working again. Just use the YT link, and then encase in tags [ youtube] at the start, [/ youtube] at the end. Cool. Thumbs Up

T Bell - 2000 Replay

Patrik Tibell - vocals, keyboards, programming
Roger Ljunggren - guitars
Ola Johansson - drums

Here's another Swedish outfit who are lost in the eighties groove, and who probably think Stockholm is another suburb of Los Angeles, such is their leaning to all things West Coast. Full of pumping bass lines, stabbing piano and staccato keyboards, the likes of which our friends Chicago, Toto, Planet 3, Airplay or even the L.A Cowboys would be comfortable jamming with. Tibell by day is a studio engineer and his material came to the ears of our AOR colleague Per Winberg who pushed to get it out into the public domain, hence a deal with AOR Heaven. Tibell is the star of the show here, with consumate vocals, and delicate arrangements that even Jay Graydon would be proud of. The production is insanely good and the choruses imbue so much richness and contain so many hummable moments. Twelve tracks, that don't vary a great deal in style, but the delivery is convincing enough to make me play the thing over and over.

The Songs
For it's rockier moments take a listen to 'Send Her A Letter' and 'Refugee'. There is some atypical Swedish AOR in there too, like the Alien styled 'Illusion Of Love', or the Talk Of The Town flavoured 'I Wanna Remember'. You gotta check out the very Toto styled 'Always Pretending' while 'Lies In Disguise' goes some way to dispelling the myth that West Coast is dead. I doubt it. For the ballads check out 'Foolish Love' and the delicious 'It's Only Love'.

In Summary
I am very taken with T Bell, and I can only hope Patrik and the boys can get some more stuff together. This is such a promising outfit that they are close to knocking Jim Steed on the money for the coveted rookie of the 2000 year award.

Another good Westcoastish release from Scandanavia. I was pleasantly surprised when i first heard this one a few years back, but i am a sucker for this type of stuff. There are some very good moments on this disc, although non come close than the song 'Postman' whichis my fave here. Nice disc

'Night After Night' is the best song IMO. It's just SO killer but every single song is great here.
