Agreed Reyno about Clyde Best, further back is the story of Walter Tull which is quite heartbreaking, links to Northampton and lived in Rushden.

Big loss is Cyrille, only short time at Wolves, but I was at the Peterborough game where he scored the last minute winner, Cyrille and Laurie C, what a team.

I think many people forget guys like West Ham's Clyde Best whenever the subject of the impact of black footballers in the English game crops up. He was just as good as the West Brom trio years b4

Cyrille was part of the ground breaking so called 'three degrees' who did so much to break down racial barriers in Football back in the late 70's.R.I.P

Crashing Angels - 2001 Crashing Angels

CRASHING ANGELS - CRASHING ANGELS (2001, INDIE)
Neil Park - guitars, vocals
Mmo - guitars, vocals
Dean Tesatura - vocals
Bert Boucher - drums
Kent Benson - bass

Background
Thanks to MP3.com you can come across some impressive bands, and it was through MP3.com that I discovered this talented quintet from Vancouver, Canada. Formed in 2000, Crashing Angels has been doing the usual club rounds in the Greater Vancouver area, finally releasing their debut, self-titled album with a release party at the Roxy during May 2001.

The Songs
The material is heavily tinged with early 90's hard rock influences, yet Crashing Angels can offer a couple of tracks such as the infectious 'Runaway', 'Baby's Bach' and 'Taste', that wouldn't be out of place on mainstream rock radio or even college radio. Actually, most of Crashing Angels debut borders very nicely on the line of hard-edged pop/rock and out 'n' out pulsating hard rock. You'll find more than a pinch of Dokken, Ratt and fellow Canadian's Krystal in 'Rhythm Of My Heart', 'Fools Day' and 'Swinger'. On 'Columbian Currency' they dabble with straight-laced melodic rock and do a fine job. Guitarist's Neil Park and the interestingly named mmo put in admirable performances, especially in the lead breaks which ooze that wonderful late 80's, early 90's hard rock energy. Vocalist Dean Tesatura has a voice that fits well with whatever direction the material is going.

In Summary
I'm glad I came across Crashing Angels and hope that they keep plugging away as they have a sound that will appeal to both the die-hard hard rock fans and fans of the current melodic pop/rock acts. A very exciting prospect indeed.
