Yep in Argent, especially as Rod Argent and Jim we’re cousins.

Didn't Rodford also play in Argent and Charlie too?

Jim Rodford, bass player, The Kinks, Phoenix (I think?), but I remember him with The Zombies, saw live a while back. RIP

United Fools - 2001 United Fools

Alan Dzafo - vocals, guitars
Mattias Strelvik - guitars, vocals
Johnny Johansson - bass
Zlaja Prozarac - drums, percussion

It came as a bit of a shock that this quartet is from Sweden, considering that much of the rock and metal that has been coming out of the Scandi nation has been either bombastic power metal or slick AOR. That's definitely not the case with United Fools, who's debut album is a throwback to early The Almighty, The Cult and AC/DC.

The Songs
With influences that range from the Rolling Stones to Stratovarius, I am a little surprised that there isn't more variety in the songs. What we do get is unpretentious hard rock 'n' roll that doesn't deviate from its simple formula. That in itself is a bit of a problem as with the likes of The Almighty and AC/DC, I find it difficult to listen through a whole album. Unfortunately United Fools are tarnished with that same brush. It's not to say that what they offer is bad, because that's not the case. However, due to the sameness of the songs it does begin to feel like you've heard it all before and there aren't one or two extra special tracks along the way to snap you out of your daydreaming.

In Summary
Having said that, the album is well produced and there are good performances, in particular guitarist Mattias Strelvik who doesn't get to shine as much as he could. So, if you've got a penchant for raw, down and dirty rock then United Fools will most likely give you the thrill you're looking for.
