Lotus - 2000 Complete Fruitage

LOTUS - COMPLETE FRUITAGE (2000, RECORD HEAVEN)
Niklas Borjesson - vocals, guitars
Tomas Modig - bass, vocals
Hans Eriksson - drums

Background
Here we have a revamped and remastered edition of Swedish band Lotus's second album Fruitage. Entitled 'Complete Fruitage' this time around, it also contains eight bonus tracks. Now there's something to be said about the reintroduction of this style of music, which seems to be having a big impact in Europe. It's a generation throwback of hard rock, without the frills and icing and lavish production. It's retro, seventies embedded, simplistic in its arrangement, but cutting and bombastic in it's delivery. I love it! For three guys they surely pack a punch, and bring back vivid memories of other power trios/outfits from a bygone era, whether it be Jimi Hendrix, Cream, Alvin Lee, Jeff Beck or Frank Marino for that matter.

In Summary
I'm not going to go into too much detail with these songs (mainly because there are eighteen of them.. too many of them to remember), but what I am going to tell you is that there are great guitar riffs on display here, invoking all sorts of comparisons to those heavy blues based rockers from those dim smoke hazed days of the early seventies. For fans of the band, check out all of their material, obtainable from the Record Heaven website.
